In light of… well, everything, I wanted to send a little encouragement to you all. If you don’t already know me, my name is Kassidy – you’ve probably seen me around campus leading serenades, giving tours, tutoring in the Writing Center, or doing stuff for student publications. But whether you know me or not, I am your sister in Christ and your Judson sister – and I’m proud to be so.
Like a lot of you, the recent Judson news has put me at a loss. I didn’t know about Judson until a month or two until graduation, but once I set foot on campus, I knew that I was home. This campus has taught me much about myself that I hadn’t known before, and I don’t know where I would be without it. The thought of losing it has been unbearable. But, earlier today, I had some Judson Step Sing song lyrics pop into my head that gave me some encouragement, and I hope that they encourage you all like they did me. The song goes like this:
“There’ll always be a Judson Where there’s a glow of love
Wherever there’s a peaceful soul who loves the Lord above
There’ll always be a Judson Where there’s a truth to keep
Wherever there is one, there’s all – a million marching feet.
“The spirit, too – what does it mean to you?
Surely you’re proud! Shout it out loud, showing the way!
And Judson too, we can depend on you,
Goodness remains, these are the chains nothing can break!
“There’ll always be a Judson
And Judson will ever be
If Judson means as much to you
As Judson means to me.”
Despite what has happened in the past and what may happen in the future, I hope this gives you some encouragement in knowing that the love that we share as Judson sisters will prevail, no matter the outcome. I know it may not be much, but I hope these words give you the same hope and comfort that it gave me.
